This little one knew her Mom was suffering, but had no idea why. Like many innocent women in Cambodia, she was infected by her husband. Visiting prostitutes is very common in SE Asia, as is not wearing condoms. Especially during this period. Things have improved since, at least with the condoms.
Mirror Image
This man - his hand holding the photo - thanked me for it in a very heartfelt way, saying he was happy to have something nice to give his family. This is how poor and destitute these people generally are. He died a few days later.
Actually he survived the worst of it, and with his ARV's was able to go back home.
This man told me he would not survive the night. Sadly, he was right.
A Nun's Compassion
Massage and other healing techniques were always of great importance to these patients, who were too often abandoned by family. It was usually the only love they received during their last days.
